TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

**What your background should look like**:
As a member of the Crompton team, the role of Buyer / Planner is to support all functions of the procurement department, with a focus on all areas of procurement, inventory management and logistics. The prime objective will be to efficiently procure and control inventories/finished goods; ensures timely delivery of product from vendors; and assist with the sound management of inventory levels and stock obsolescence with a hands-on approach with our Minto Workshop in defining best inventory selection for modification and scheduling to achieve best deliveries to customer.

**Responsibilities-**
- To actively participate as a team member and establish a sound working knowledge of all functions (i.e. procurement, inventory management & vendor management).
- Using our ERP systems and other tools to maintain accurate data with respect to procurement of goods.
- Work closely with our Workshop/Lab to continually achieve strong output for planning and deliveries to the market.
- Effectively manage the vendor relationships in terms of supply, quality, vendor returns (credits), pricing and terms of trade.
- Review and expedited late purchase orders and unconfirmed PO’s.
- Control and inform appropriate personnel of product changes and obsolete products from vendors.
- Assist the operations team in various activities to ensure that effective completion of all Materials/Logistics objectives including annual physical stocktakes.
- Provide back up support as required for materials related functions within the organisation.
- Support location EHS initiatives set by the plant.
- Other duties as allocated by the Manager as requested.

**Qualifications and Experience-**
- Previous experience with a computerised inventory management system.
- Two (2) - Three (3) years in a similar role.
