**About the role**

Opportunity to join a small and close-knit team as a Crewperson, making a big difference, contributing towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna, and aboriginal heritage through aerial support across NSW National Parks.

As a Crewperson, you will undertake safe and efficient operation of helicopter tasks and ensure that all ancillary equipment and gear necessary to perform the work programs are in operational condition and available for the jobs required. You will assist the Pilot in navigation, radio, advising on obstacle clearance during landing and hovering, so safety is assured.

The position is also responsible for all aspects of the job other than flying including providing ground support, support to the Chief Pilot-Manager, Flight Operations and Pilot(s) in complying with NPWS Air Operators Certificate, the Civil Aviation Act 1998 and associated Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) orders and regulations.

To succeed in the role, you will have:

- Experience in firefighting operations that involve winching and sling operations. You will have experience in dealing with winch and aircraft emergencies..
- Experience in front left seat operations A high degree of accuracy and clear communication is required.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems including assessment of situations and developing and evaluating several options that will take into account safety considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve logístical problems in consultation with the Pilot and field staff, when conducting field operations, e.g., providing fuel, moving equipment, and changing landing areas.
- Experience in making decisions relating to aircraft safety and operations in consultation with the Pilot in command, with a demonstrated ability in Crew Resource Management
- Willingness to provide a level of ground support i.e. driving vehicles, fuel trucks.
- Willingness to undertake a large amount of travel for periods of up to 8 days away.

**Essential requirements**:

- Current CASA Class II Medical.
- CASA approved hoist operator endorsement under CASR Part 138.
- Experience in the operation of role equipment including: aerial Incendiary machines and, water buckets.
- Experience in rigging and handling cargo.
- High level navigation skills including the operation of GPS equipment.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in isolated locations unsupervised individually or as part of a team.

**Desirable licences and training**:

- MR Truck Licence
- High risk work licence - Dogman
- Cert IV Training and Assessment.
