When redeveloping older properties or brownfield sites, our clients need to take the necessary steps to manage asbestos, hazardous building materials and air pollutants in a safe and efficient manner.
Our National Occupational Hygiene team comprises of licensed asbestos assessors, certified occupational hygienists, senior toxicologists, and laboratory professionals who help organisations identify, manage and mitigate these risks and liabilities so they can improve EHS in the workplace, protect their brand and meet their sustainability aspirations.
We’re currently looking for a **Laboratory Analyst** to join our Laboratory team in **Adelaide**.
**What you’ll do**
You will work in all aspects of the laboratory from sample preparation to carrying out analyses while focusing on quality outcomes.
You will receive on-the-job training in the technical components and procedures of the role allowing a solid foundation for your future career development.
You will fulfil the following duties:
- Data entry and administration as per the requirements of the lab management system
- Learn to perform asbestos fibre counting and asbestos identification on building materials and soil samples using dispersion staining and polarized light microscopy
- Ensure that analytical procedures are conducted in accordance with QA/QC and NATA accreditation requirements
- Work towards becoming an authorised signatory for fibre counting and fibre identification
- General laboratory housekeeping
- Management of laboratory and field equipment
**About you**
You’re likely to be a recent graduate in an Environmental, Science or Chemistry discipline with a few years of relevant industry experience.
In addition, you will bring:
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques
- Experience with asbestos identification would be highly regarded
- A sense of initiative and an appetite to embrace new challenges
- Strong time management, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and overtime
