**THE ROLE**
Our client requires a Livestock Overseer to help manage a large scale commercial & stud Angus cattle operation covering over 5,000Ha.
Reporting directly to the Property Manager you will assist with the livestock enterprises with a focus on their cattle handling and production. You must have experience with animal husbandry, mustering and low stress stock handling techniques.
Taking a leadership role executing jobs with good OH&S knowledge and practice, you are happy to either work autonomously and be self-sufficient or work in a team environment as required.
You will be a self-motivated livestock person, who takes pride in their work, equipment, and have high level presentation and communication skills. By nature you are well organised, like things tidy, with great attention to detail and observation skills.
You may already be an Overseer who wants to work with a larger highly professional but private outfit, or see yourself as a professional livestock person looking for the step up in your career.
**THE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist in all livestock husbandry including drenching, mustering, calf marking, feeding and all other cattle handling procedures.
- Have a clear understanding of the welfare of livestock and the ability to communicate to management any concerns or advise in relation to water and feed requirements and overall well-being.
- Actively participate in mustering using side-by-sides and horses (when required).
- Check and report on fences and yards requiring repair and to report any equipment or machinery requiring repair or maintenance to management.
- Assist in loading and unloading of trucks.
- Repair and maintenance of water systems.
- Operate plant and equipment efficiently and competently.
**THE REQUIREMENTS**
- Min. 3-5 years cattle handling experience.
- Ensure high-level standards of OH&S, animal welfare & cattle in low stress stock handling techniques.
- Working dogs & horse skills essential.
- Ability to work unsupervised and show initiative.
- Be comfortable in communicating with management and your team.
**REMUNERATION AND LOCATION**
- Attractive base salary (based on experience) + newly renovated 3-bedroom house + power + work vehicle
- Upper Hunter Region, NSW
