Davidson Technology are currently supporting Australia’s top university in finding an exceptional Infrastructure Platform Lead to deliver infrastructure that enable the University to achieve its strategic goals: a student experience equal to the world’s best, and research that transforms society and creates national capability.

The organisation is currently under a 10-year strategic roadmap for the transformation of the University’s digital capability. The University are looking for an Infrastructure Platform Lead to join them on a permanent basis. The University adhere to current Hybrid Work from Home demands and require 2 days per week at the University. They also operate on a 35-hour week basis, which offers great work life balance.

**About the Role**

The University’s information infrastructure plays a critical role in enabling and supporting teaching, learning, research and administration. Information Technology Services (ITS) provides unified management and coordination support for a wide range of academic and corporate information services and more generally manages development of the University’s information infrastructure. Major areas include networks, communications, computing platforms, data stores, desk-top and mobile access, high-performance computing, online publishing, enterprise systems, student learning environments, and IT security. The work of ITS is coordinated with services provided within and by University Colleges and Service Divisions to form a cohesive, university-wide information infrastructure.

The Infrastructure Platforms Lead will work under the broad direction of the Associate Director ICT Infrastructure, assuming responsibility for high level technical support of on premise physical & virtual compute services, storage services, enterprise backup/recovery services and cloud computing infrastructure. This will include strategic planning, technical advice, service improvement/maintenance projects, incident response and ongoing BAU support.

The Infrastructure Platforms Lead works with a team of engineers to deliver innovative, secure, reliable and performant on premise physical & virtual compute services, storage services and enterprise backup/recovery systems on an organisational wide basis.

The Infrastructure Platforms Lead consults and collaborates with stakeholders in other ITS and College IT teams, Divisional, School and College based staff, as well as liaising with key ICT vendors.

**About You**

Under broad direction of the Associate Director ICT Infrastructure, and in accordance with established ITS and university policies and procedures, the Infrastructure Platforms Lead will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

- Provide effective technical advice to the team, ensuring that objectives are effectively achieved. Maintain a cohesive, cooperative and equitable high performing team and support continual development of staff.
- Work with stakeholders to prioritise incidents, requests and projects. Coordinate and negotiate the team’s workload across incidents, requests, project activities, internal housekeeping & maintenance, team leave and training. Provide progress updates to stakeholders as needed.
- Provide expert technical advice regarding the current and future design and use of storage and compute platforms. The Infrastructure Platforms Lead will initiate, develop, and review Infrastructure and Research platforms.
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, contribute to the planning and management of platform lifecycles including design, implementation, continuing support and decommissioning, ensuring the availability and performance of high-quality platform resources to meet the University’s needs as well as ensuring datasecurity, availability and integrity of business data.
- Provide high level governance of enterprise Cloud infrastructure ensuring processes and procedures are in place to provide appropriate access to resources, monitoring of resource consumption and managing resources to ensure cost-efficient usage.
- Provide technical expertise with a commitment to continuous improvement and best practice service delivery. Use system management tools to determine load and performance statistics as well as respond to support requests and incident resolution. Implement agreed systems, service changes, maintenance and installation work including identification and resolution of operational issues.
- Maintain the health of all platform resources including effective real-time monitoring of systems, monitor events as necessary to maintain optimal operations and carry out housekeeping activities to prevent unnecessary consumption or security exposure of resources.
- Investigate identified security breaches in accordance with established procedures and recommend any required actions. Assist users in defining their access rights and privileges, and administers logical access controls and security systems.
