Job Description - Qualified Dog Groomer
Location: Strathfield, NSW
Reports to: Director - Shermika Schindler

Position Overview We are looking for an experienced and fully qualified Dog Groomer to join the team at Shers Pups and Pals — a fast-growing, luxury grooming and daycare facility built on love, safety, and high standards. This role is ideal for a groomer who takes pride in their craft, delivers exceptional service, and thrives in a fun, supportive team environment. You’ll be responsible for delivering breed-specific and pet-style cuts, providing safe and gentle handling, and helping each dog leave looking and feeling their best.

Key Responsibilities

Perform full grooms including wash, blow dry, brush, clip, scissor, and style

Deliver breed-standard and client-requested styles to a high-quality finish

Assess coat condition, skin health, and detect signs of parasites or abnormalities

Maintain a clean and safe grooming area, including sanitising tools and equipment

Build relationships with repeat clients and provide friendly, informative handovers

Assist with training and mentoring of grooming assistants or trainees

Use positive, low-stress handling techniques at all times

Follow individual booking notes, timelines, and safety procedures

**Requirements**:
Certificate III in Pet Grooming or equivalent industry experience

Minimum 2 years of grooming experience in a salon or mobile environment

Strong breed knowledge and excellent finishing skills

Confident working independently or as part of a grooming team

Able to groom 5-7 dogs per day depending on coat and clip complexity

Calm, kind, and confident when handling all dog breeds and temperaments

High hygiene standards and attention to detail

Excellent communication with both clients and team members

Legally permitted to work in Australia

Desirable (but not essential)

Experience with Asian fusion and modern pet styles

Ability to scissor finish and hand strip

Prior experience in mentoring junior groomers

Understanding of skin and coat care products

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 38 per week
