**About the team**:
Commercial is a large but close-knit group. We bring diversity of thought, backgrounds and experience to every Business Unit at Coles Supermarkets, Liquor and Express. **A new 12-month full time contract opportunity has opened for an Assistant Category Manager.**

Joining the non-food General Needs business unit, this is a dynamic and fast paced area where you’ll use your initiative and try new things.

**About the role**:
Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, you’ll be empowered to grow profitable category sales through satisfying customer needs.

**You’ll also**:

- Maintain supplier relationships and execute the customer-centric category strategy
- Take responsibility for trade and promotional planning within the category
- Support ongoing promotional activity and trade plans.

**About you and your skills**:
Coming from a sizeable retailer or FMCG manufacturer, you’re an experienced Assistant Category Manager or a Supermarket Store Department Manager. Collaborative, proactive, and quick to pick up systems you demonstrate an evident passion for retail and Coles.

**You’ll also need**:

- Outstanding organisation and juggling skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Knowledge of the merchandising function and processes
- Strong analytical skills to formulate category recommendations based on insights/data
- Ability to work within cross functional teams to manage and execute projects
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
