**About the role**
- Judicial Registrar Freeman is seeking a legally qualified individual to serve as his associate, commencing from mid to late July 2025. This is a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria and to work closely with a Judicial Registrar undertaking an increasingly complex and active judicial function.
- Key Responsibilities:

- Provide high-level, high-volume administrative, operational and legal support to the Judicial Registrar;
- Liaising with Judges, legal practitioners, court staff, and members of the public;
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, and contribute to improvements with court process and practice;
- Conduct legal research, draft case summaries and prepare materials for use in court;
- Maintain and manage confidential court and chambers records;
- Contribute to the efficient running of the Criminal Division's listing and case management functions; and
- Provide support with the preparation of rulings, correspondence and written reasons, as required.

**About You**
- You will have a demonstrated interest in criminal law and the administration of justice. You will bring excellent legal research and writing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing demands in a high-pressure environment. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to working in a judicial setting.
- A strong academic record is essential, and post-graduate legal experience is desirable but not required. Proficiency in grammar, computer literacy, professionalism, discretion and sound judgment are critical to success in this role.
