**About this role**
Exciting Opportunity Do you want to make a difference in supporting better outcomes for Aboriginal customers and communities within NSW. We are looking for an experienced Policy Manager to work in the Aboriginal Outcomes Unit (AOU) within the Office of the Secretary, NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS) who can contribute to priority areas such as National Agreement on Closing the Gap to deliver on strategic outcomes.
The Aboriginal Outcomes Unit (AOU) is a central hub that oversees Aboriginal initiatives and programs and provides strategic and cultural guidance across DCS. We work collaboratively across the Cluster to help improve the targeting of supports and services available to Aboriginal customers and communities.
The AOU oversees the implementation of the DCS’ Aboriginal Employment Strategy and Aboriginal Customer Engagement Strategy as well as DCS’ commitments under Closing the Gap and other key State priorities and connects the work of these Strategies and priorities to better outcomes for Aboriginal customers and communities.
We are looking for an experienced Policy Manager who can lead and manage complex policy initiatives and projects, deliver strategic outcomes and inspire their team.
**You will be have the opportunity to**:
- ** **Join a highly skilled team that leads policy projects that are priorities for the Ministers, Secretary and Government
- Have exposure to senior decision-makers
- Play a central role in policy, strategy, and legislation that establishes the customer at the centre of everything Government does
- Work across the Customer Service Cluster, including providing support to customer-facing organisations like Service NSW and Births, Deaths and Marriages
- This role sits in the heart of the Department of Customer Service, in the Office of the Secretary. It involves developing high quality advice and delivering against priorities for the Department, Secretary and Ministers.
**You will be required to**:
- Lead, manage and work across multiple teams and projects
- Support and inspire your team
- Be accountable for complex policy initiatives and projects with mínimal supervision
- Develop and implement practical solutions to complex matters
- Manage rapidly changing priorities and conflicting perspectives
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
**To be successful in this role you will demonstrate**:
- ** **The ability to deliver results and take initiative and have a can-do attitude
- Expert written and verbal communication skills
- Skills in undertaking research, analysis and review of complex policy and projects and developing evidence-based options and strategies
- Experience in leading and developing teams
- Ability to work autonomously
- Have a good understanding of how government works and how to get things done using government processes
- The ability to be able to build and maintain positive and productive relationships

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at 131,094 base plus superannuation
