**EL2 - Director, Governance (non-ongoing)**:
- Be responsible for corporate governance and accountability policy and practice in the National Library
- Work at a heritage-listed building
- Non-Ongoing role for up to 7 months
The Director, Governance also has a key role in providing assurance to the Library’s Accountable Authority, Director-General and NLA Executive that the Library’s corporate governance and accountability policies and practices align with legislative and regulatory requirements and reflect contemporary APS and industry standards.
To be the right contender for this role you will need high level leadership capability for leading and managing the operations of the Section and a team of people. The responsibilities include developing, coaching, performance management, change management, conflict resolution and the identification of development needs.
The Director, Governance provides strategic direction to the Section and:
- Develops, implements and reviews effectiveness of the Library’s corporate governance and assurance frameworks, policies and programs ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and public sector requirements.
- Coordinates the Library’s corporate planning and performance reporting framework and activities.
- Oversees the Library’s enterprise risk and fraud control arrangements, and coordinates response to high risk matters.
- Sets and monitors performance of key governance and accountability metrics for the Library.
- Develops, implements and reviews Library governance and assurance education and awareness program, supporting a robust assurance model within the library.
- Monitors key APS and corporate governance and accountability requirements and frames appropriate agency responses to key trends and issues.
This role requires you to provide strategic advice, problem solving and issues management to internal and external stakeholders relevant to the functions of the section and the National Library of Australia.
You will also need to develop and manage key strategic relationships within and external to the National Library of Australia representing the Library at external forums and with key stakeholders. The role oversees legal, procurement and contract management services and matters.
You must hold qualifications in law and/or corporate governance and have extensive experience, including experience in managing corporate governance programs.
The preferred applicants will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and may need to be able to obtain and maintain a NV1 security clearance. The preferred applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information.
