**The Department**
The News and Current Affairs Graphics team is a dynamic, collaborative team that supports daily news broadcasts, online news and current affairs programs content creation.
We work alongside Journalists, Producers and Editors in the heart of our very busy newsroom.
**The Role**
We have an exciting seven month contract opportunity to create design work for News and Current Affairs broadcast and digital platforms. The purpose of this role is to support the news and current affairs team to bring to audiences stand out graphics, including original graphic content for storytelling. You will collaborate with Producers / Journalists to produce dynamic stories with state-of-the-art graphic design that will engage and inform our audiences in a timely, contemporary way.
**About you**
(Please note that role is for a Motion Graphic Designer not just a Graphic Designer)
- Solid experience in creating complex, bold and dynamic animations, a passion for news and current affairs, as well as an ability to remain calm under pressure.
- An understanding of channel branding, style guides and be keenly following new visual trends.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to build relationships across teams, effectively handover tasks to team members and train new team members, as required.
- Advanced skillset working in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly After Effects (including plugins) to deliver complex animations. 3D animation skills and Premier Pro highly regarded, including MGRT creation.
- An understanding of VizRT and augmented reality processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy across all platforms to uphold audience trust in design and the SBS brand.
- Experience in studio delivery and team workflows.
- Globe mapping experience is also a requirement and an essential part of the role.
