We are seeking a Surveillance Officer to join our Belmont Desalination Project where your contributions will directly impact our major infrastructure projects.

**The Opportunity**
As the Surveillance Officer you will be responsible for monitoring of construction activities undertaken as part of Hunter Water's capital works program. The role ensures new assets are constructed in accordance with Hunter Water's WHS, Environmental and Quality standards.
This role will be predominately based at and working on the Belmont Desalination Plant and associated infrastructure.
**What you'll do**:
- Inspect and verify works undertaken by contractors to ensure it is undertaken in accordance with Hunter Water's specifications, policies and procedures.
- Maintain daily records and keep Project Managers informed of site construction works, on-site issues and construction progress.
- Monitor, report and carry out site audits of contractors' safety, environmental and quality management on site.
- Liaise with and coordinate contractors and Hunter Water's operations, maintenance and treatment teams in the planning and execution of shutdown and connection activities.
- Verify, record and report on activities associated with variations for cost and/or time.
**What you'll need to be successful**:
**Essential Criteria**:
- Extensive experience in civil and/or mechanical construction including water and wastewater infrastructure, or relevant similar experience.
- Experience in managing contract works including monitoring compliance with specifications and standards.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
**Desirable Criteria**:
- Familiarity with Hunter Water's standards, policies and procedures associated with the design and construction of new assets.
- Familiarity with water and wastewater systems
- Understanding of MS Office Suite with strong computer literacy
