**The Opportunity**

Our Customer Engagement Department is seeking a suitably experienced Community Engagement Advisor to join our enthusiastic, friendly and professional team. Reporting to the Coordinator Community Engagement, your focus will be on developing and implementing best practice community engagement plans and activities on Council projects, whilst supporting a diverse range of community voices to have a say in decisions that affect them. You will also ensure information regarding Council and engagement activities are shared appropriately with the community to support capacity building and civic participation.

**_ Key Responsibilities_**
- Deliver on Council's Community Engagement Policy 2021 and associated four year implementation work plan.
- Develop and implement robust communications and engagement plans to support an open, transparent, meaningful engagement with our community.
- Act as a Council champion for best practice engagement, providing specialist advice and support across the organisation to support outcomes.
- Explore, identify and implement tools that support audience appropriate meaningful engagement - this includes best use of Council's digital engagement portal.
- Support ongoing community engagement including updating the community on findings from engagement activities.
- Develop collateral to support engagement activities.

**_ About You_**
- A tertiary qualification in communications, community engagement; or another relevant discipline and experience related to communications and engagement delivery.
- The ability to develop, and implement communications and engagement plans for projects and issues.
- The ability to analyse engagement findings and provide this back to the community in a timely and effective manner.
- Previous experience working with diverse communities, with a capacity to build effective partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
- Knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the principles of community / citizen engagement and capacity building.
- An ability to work independently and part of a team depending on projects and tasks.
