**Position Summary**:
A unique training opportunity exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Research Fellow with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful applicant(s) will:
- Be trained to be future leaders of clinicopathological research in AMD
- Lead the ongoing digitisation of the Sarks clinicopathological eye archive, facilitating national and international research collaborations
- Lead research projects based on the archive, with a specific focus on bringing the observations of Drs Shirley and John Sarks into clinical practice. Lead the creation of web-based teaching modules for key Sarks archive clinicopathological observations
The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Possess a relevant tertiary medical qualification (e.g. MBBS or MD) from a recognized Australian or International University
3. For Australian applicants: Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) or be less than 12 months from achieving fellowship accreditation. For international applicants: Be less than 1-2 years post-ophthalmology boarding.

5. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical and research practice in ophthalmology and ophthalmic pathology commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position.
6. Demonstrated commitment to research in clinicopathological correlative studies in ophthalmic pathology.
7. Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively within multidisciplinary translational research groups.
8. Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment.
