The Skills and Pathways directorate supports students to access secondary and post-school education and training options, building strong careers and a flourishing economy and society. We collaborate to develop policy, pilot innovative ideas, engage with industry and deliver programs, to enhance skills and knowledge. We focus on unifying vocational and higher-education pathways.
**About the role**
The Manager, Pathways and Vocational Education Strategy role leads the coordination and delivery of support for a range of strategic priorities across Pathways and Transitions, for the Pathways and Vocational Education Strategy work stream. This includes the Vocational Schools Pilot and the Pathways for Secondary Students Strategy, developed to support students across NSW through pathways to succeed in post-school destinations.
As a key project team member to deliver these exciting initiatives, the role provides strategic project management oversight and support, including governance and policy development and liaising with internal stakeholders including SINSW, human resources, finance and communications. The role interfaces with school stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes will be achieved for students and to encourage school engagement with strategic projects and priorities.

**About you**
- High-level strategic project management experience in a large, diverse and complex organisation
- Experience leading project delivery, embedding best practice project management frameworks to deliver complex and innovative programs and program initiatives that drive evaluation, reporting and accountability requirements
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills to work collegially with internal stakeholders and project partners, including the ability to foster strategic relationships with industry partners to broker, develop and deliver programs, ensuring consistency in outcomes and direction
- Experience and knowledge in developing and implementing appropriate governance and risk frameworks, performance measures, reporting standards, assessment tools and systems to ensure effective governance of projects from inception to completion
- Ability to manage and mitigate risk, managing issues and project milestones to ensure programs are developed and progressed within required timeframes and to agreed outcomes
- Experience managing the administration and appropriate allocation of program budgets, including reporting on program outcomes and funding requirements
- People management experience with demonstrated leadership skills to manage a small team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to contribute to preparation of internal and ministerial briefing papers, reports, submissions and correspondence to a state and national audience, as well as provide expert advice to the senior executive and Minister's Offices on program deliverables and design.

**Key knowledge and experience**
- Demonstrated skill and experience in a project management role in a large, diverse and complex organisation
- Knowledge and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
