The National Blood Authority (NBA) is an Australian Government statutory agency whose role is to work
in a collaborative manner with all Australian governments and blood sector stakeholders to ensure
Australia's blood supply is safe, secure, adequate and affordable.
**Job Context**
You will be part of the Commercial Blood Products Section which plays a critical role to ensure the
supply of commercial blood products meets the clinical needs of Australians. The team does this by
actively managing the contractual arrangements which value over $800 million annually with a range of
domestic and global providers.
Your role will be to lead the procurement and management of high value commercial contracts for the
supply of these blood products in a way that meets demand. This includes through monitoring and
forecasting supply and demand in a dynamic environment, working closely with suppliers, clinicians and
other teams within the NBA. In this environment your judgement, leadership as well as stakeholder
engagement skills will be paramount.
We are looking for great people with demonstrated experience in government contract management
need to contribute to the strategic goals of the organisation, provide clear advice on complex issues, use
analysis and innovative approaches to solve complex problems. Strong stakeholder engagement,
negotiation and communication skills will also be important.
**Primary Job Purpose**
Although not exhaustive, the duties and responsibilities of this position will require you to:
1. Oversee and manage contracts, programs and projects in accordance with the objectives of the
- National Blood Authority Act 2003_ and relevant government policies and agreements
2. Provide contract management and procurement advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders
across the NBA
3. Coordinate and manage procurement processes
4. Establish, implement, monitor and review contract performance and supply risk management
strategies
5. Propose and implement innovations within a culture of continuous improvement
6. Analyse reports and proposals, and prepare and deliver high quality papers, briefs, presentations
and correspondence
7. Review supply and demand data to help inform contract management and planning
8. Coordinate and manage human and financial resources, workflow and team performance
9. Build effective relationships and achieve negotiation outcomes with internal and external
stakeholders, including staff
10. Contribute to the NBA organisational strategy and promote a collaborative workplace culture.

All NBA officers are expected to participate in high level, organisation-wide responsibilities, and
administrative support activities actively and willingly. Officers are required to operate flexibly and
exercise higher order leadership skills as well as directly undertake lower order independent work when
necessary to get the job done. This reflects the nature of the NBA as a relatively small, specialist Agency
and our need to always operate with maximum flexibility and agility. In recognition of these
