With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We are seeking a **Hygiene Specialist **to join our site based Health, Safety & Training team. The Specialist will be tasked to recognise, measure, evaluate and control occupational health and hygiene hazards across Karara Operations and also develop, implement and manage ongoing occupational hygiene programs designed to protect personnel from exposure to chemical, biological and physical hazards.

This position operates on an **8 days on 6 days off **roster.

**General duties & responsibilities**
- Liaise with relevant regulatory agencies as and when required
- Maintain and manage certification of monitoring equipment and stock levels of consumables to allow ongoing monitoring and measurement
- Ensure all records of monitoring, measuring and recording of all activities related to Ventilation, Radiation, Noise and any other Hygiene related hazards are kept in compliance with relevant legislation and company policy
- Ensure all non-conformances or exceedances are reported into the Karara incident management data base and that appropriate investigations are undertaken including agreed and assigned relevant actions for completion
- Develop and deliver educational programs to improve awareness and compliance in regard to Hygiene, Noise and Radiation issues
- Undertake general safety leadership and compliance tasks as a senior member of the Health Safety and Training team

**Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience**
- A Masters’ degree in an Occupational Hygiene related discipline
- Certified Industrial Hygienist or Full Member AIOH
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Driver’s License
- A minimum of five years-experience in Occupational Hygiene (preferably heavy industry)
- Experience in the Resource industry undertaking Occupational Hygiene functions
- In depth knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the Surface Ventilation Officer and Noise Officer within the Mine Safety Inspection Act and Regulations
- In depth knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the Radiation Safety Act and Regulations
- Extensive knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspections Regulations and Act
- National Police Clearance
- Permanent work rights in Australia
