Racing SA is the controlling body for thoroughbred racing in South Australia. It represents, promotes and supports the State's thoroughbred racing industry.

**THE ROLE**

Racing SA is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Talent Manager to oversee all facets of Racing SA’s Apprentice Academy.

Your industry knowledge of the thoroughbred racing landscape will prove beneficial as you hit the ground running managing the day-to-day operations of the Apprentice Academy’s Apprentice Jockeys.

This exciting opportunity is timely as Racing SA’s Apprentice Academy continues to evolve; currently preparations are underway for a smooth transition to its new training facilities soon to be located at Somerton Park.

Predominantly an Administration based role, the Apprentice Academy Talent Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Apprentice Jockeys, including coordination and management of their wellbeing, arranging counselling and educational support, providing mentoring and guidance as the apprentices embark on becoming elite athletes in their chosen field.

Reporting to the Industry Operations & Welfare Manager, your duties will include but are not limited to:

- Tending to indentures/agreement documentation, as well as managing Trust Accounts for all apprentices.
- Coordination of the annual education curriculum for the Apprentice Academy training program including enrolment with the relevant Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
- Attend race meetings in a supporting role for the Apprentice Jockeys and assist the Jockey Coach when required.
- Nurture and support Hong Kong Jockey Club Apprentices during their training based in South Australia as they fulfill their international riding requirements for their apprenticeship commitments.
- Manage and coordinate annual Apprentice Academy events, including the induction of new Apprentice Jockeys into the Apprentice Academy, along with the National Apprentice Riders Series (NARS) for the South Australian Apprentice participants.
- Build rapport and engage regularly with key industry stakeholders.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Ideally you will have experience in the thoroughbred racing industry, possess a sound understanding of racing compliance and the rules of racing in Australia.
- You will have exceptional communication skills as you go about fostering strong relationships with apprentice jockeys, trainers, key industry stakeholders and participants.
- You have a genuine interest in conspiring to other’s success and going the extra mile.
- Your balanced approach, ability to nurture and provide a strong level of support to others will play an integral part in this role.

Weekend and out of hours work is a requirement in this position. Racing SA supports a flexible and healthy work-life balance and as such you will be compensated with time off in lieu.

Applicants who hold or are willing to obtain a Working with Children Clearance and a Training and Assessment (TAE) qualification will be highly regarded.
