Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at **Nepean Hospital** within the Department of **Orthopaedics**

Successful applicants of this 6-month appointment will be expected to support the elective waitlist caseload and emergency orthopaedic patients that presents to the LHD.

Applicants are expected to have already been awarded their Fellowship with RACS to be considered.

Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the district for clinical matters.

The number of sessions will be minimum 1 elective session a fortnight for waitlist management cases only and in addition participation in the management of on call roster. Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

1. Possess or be eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) (Orthopaedics)**and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014 and Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.

3. Sound clinical knowledge in Orthopaedics Scope of Practice demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.

4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.

5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.

6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.

7. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Department
