In line with Medibank’s strategy to support new models of care that are better for patients and Australia’s health system, we have established a Joint Venture with a group of renowned orthopaedic surgeons and Macquarie University Hospital, to support the creation of a world class orthopaedic surgical centre. In preparation for the centre to open early next year, we are now seeking to appoint The Perioperative Services - Floor Manager to effectively manage the human, fiscal and capital resources of the Operating suite, Anaesthetic/Recovery, and Pre-op units of the Orthopaedic Surgical Specialist Centre at Macquarie University Hospital.

**The opportunity**
In the newly created role of Floor Manager of the 28 bed and 4 operating suite Perioperative unit, accommodating both inpatient and day surgery patients, you will work collaboratively with Perioperative Services, Program Leads and Discipline Heads of Anaesthesia and Surgery to achieve a coordinated service and deliver exceptional outcomes for patients and to provide the strategic and operational direction of AIOJR perioperative services.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Hospital Operations your key accountabilities will include:
- Oversee the recruitment and retention for the Perioperative nursing team.
- Lead the strategic development and maintenance of the operational resources to support and enhance patient care.
- Work with Finance/Business and HR in matters relating to unit budget, activity levels and service planning, patient care and staff support.
- Initiate business plan proposals for the consideration of new projects relevant to the Perioperative Services.
- Analyse service activity and resource utilisation to assist capacity planning for future service provision.
- Mentor and support the professional development of the nursing team.
- Liaise with Nurse Unit Manager’s and Floor Coordinators to maintain clinical, service and team performance.
- Foster strong relationships and collaborative teamwork with internal and external stakeholders.
**About you**
You are a Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration with considerable clinical leadership experience gained within a private hospital or day surgery centre with a proven track record in leading, managing and developing teams. You can also bring the following skills and experience:
- Develop, implement, operationalise and review strategy to support decision making
- Ability to work with cross functional stakeholders and teams and deliver great outcomes
- Demonstrate and lead others in the delivery of good nursing care and customer service
- Strong commercial acumen coupled with strong reporting and presentation skills
- Experience in meeting ISO Certification processes and initiating quality activities
This is a full time, permanent opportunity working onsite at Macquarie University Hospital in Macquarie Park, NSW. This role will be employed by the Medibank/Doctor Group Joint Venture, SydOrtho, and then seconded to the hospital.
