**The Role**
You will be responsible for:
Surgery
- Attend pre-admission clinic and assist with the organisation of pre-operative work up.
- Attend all Neurosurgical operating theatres.
- Help with pre-operative set up.
- Assist and part take during surgery.
- Clear documentation of operation report and post-operative orders.
- Communication of orders to ICU and ward.
Inpatient Care
- Daily ward rounds of each patient in the Unit.
- Careful documentation in the case notes of patient progress.
- Responsibility for communication with other surgical and medical officers/AMO about any relevant change in patient’s condition.
- Discharge planning, together with patient and allied health staff and family. Supervising discharge summaries and communication with AMO.
- Liaise with and counsel family or guardians of patient as required.
Research
**Selection Criteria**
- It is best suited for a junior registrar within the first 5 years of graduation looking to combine clinical work and research or study with flexible work hours.
- Must have completed at least 20 hours of Neurosurgery as a Junior Medical Officer.
- Preference given to those with experience within the Sydney Local Health District.
