Established in 1998, Penrith Anglican College seeks to nurture and develop empowered learners

**Status**Permanent Full Time
**Reporting To**Head of HSIE, Head of Secondary & Director of Studies
**Key Working**HSIE Department, Secondary Executive Staff, and relevant Head of
**Relationships**House.
**Teaching Load**The teaching load will be determined annually by the Principal and will
reflect the learning, wellbeing, cultural, community and administrative
responsibilities of the role.
**Role Summary**
HSIE Teachers are responsible for designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned to
Penrith Anglican College Learning Culture, policies, and practices. Through the study of HSIE,
students develop the knowledge and skills to prepare them to actively and responsibly participate as
informed citizens in the contemporary world. HSIE Teachers work as part of a team to nurture and
develop learners who are relational, reflective, resilient, and resourceful. They are committed to
continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence.**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Demonstrate ongoing practice that meets the Australian Professional Standards of Teachers
(see below link).
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the NSW syllabus documents for the relevant
Stage 6 course(s), Commerce and 7-10 Geography, teaching timetabled classes as required.
- Experience and expertise teaching the relevant Stage 6 course(s) & 7-10 Geography. Stage
5 Commerce an advantage.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate teaching and learning programs that incorporate
differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of students across a range of
abilities, including the development of literacy and numeracy skills.
- Adhere to all curriculum expectations and deadlines as set out by NESA and the College.
- Align teaching practices and curriculum with the Christian faith.
- Incorporate the language and habits associated with the College Learning Culture within regular
classroom practice, establishing high expectations and empowering students to develop as
reflective, relational, resilient, and resourceful learners.
- Gather NCCD-related evidence as part of ongoing processes and structures.
- Create and maintain a positive and engaging learning space for the students.
- Establish and maintain effective classroom management and discipline practices to ensure
students are safe and supported as they learn.
- Incorporate strategies to promote the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT.
- Ensure meaningful and effective assessment practices to inform programming, teaching and
reporting.
- Provide regular and timely feedback to students and their families regarding progress,
- Critically engage in professional learning to update knowledge and practice.
- Support and promote the College’s pastoral care and wellbeing programs, diverse co-curricular
programs and extra-curricular events such as but not limited to involvement in carnivals, camps,
excursions, co-curricular activities, and events.
- Lead a Mentor Group with students from Year 7 to Year 12.
- Attend meetings, parent-teacher interviews, events, and playground duties as required.
- Implement relevant programs, policy, and legislative requirements, including the College’s
Code of Conduct, to ensure student wellbeing and safety.
- Take part in compliance training as required.
- Undertake any other duties as directed by the College Executive or Principal.

- Extensive skills in the use of ICT, particularly Microsoft programs, CANVAS and Edumate (or
a willingness to be trained in these platforms).
