**Role**:

- The school Nurse Assistant will form part of the Warringa Park School Wellbeing Team. This team of multidisciplinary professionals are required to work across all Warringa Park School campuses. The school Nurse will work closely with students, school staff, the wider school community, external health services and relevant community agencies. The position of School Nurse involves, but is not limited to, administration of First Aid, responding to illnesses and injuries, administering medication, managing chronic conditions, liaising with parents and guardians and maintain medical records. Special considerations for this role are the ability to work with students aged 5 years to 18 years with an intellectual disability ranging from mild to profound and working with students with high medical needs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide effective initial treatment in the event of minor medical conditions to emergency medical situations. This includes, but is not limited to; management of cuts, abrasions, contusions, soft tissue injury, fractures, basic wound care, minor bleeding to emergency situations including trauma, severe bleeding and asthma;
- Support the management of students' chronic health conditions during regular school hours (this includes management and coordination of personal medications during sport and off-campus events, such as camps, excursions);
- Maintain written documentation for all treatments performed;
- Effectively communicate and liaise with school staff, parents, students, doctors and specialists in regards to any medical conditions relating to the student;
- Complete incident reports where necessary for students and staff and examine the individual situations to see if the incidents may have been preventable;
- Provide informed and accurate information, instructions and recommendations in relation to students attending First Aid to School Leadership;
- Ensure that School Leadership and all relevant stakeholders are informed as necessary about incidents of concern;
- Ensure that accurate records of treatments provided are kept for reporting and reference as necessary;
- Assess and refer students for further medical care;
- Promoting health education and preventative care, including presenting some First Aid-related compliance training to staff;
- Coordinate school-based immunisation program;
- Coordinate school-based dental program;
- Work with the other Campus Nurse to document, review and update relevant policies and procedures;
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and general ICT capabilities;
- Assist with other related duties as necessary**.**:

**Who May Apply**:

- Current Registration as a Division 2 Registered Nurse (RN) with AHPRA
- A current Victorian Working with Children Check
- A current Victorian Driver¿s License and car
- Computer skills, particularly word processing.
