- Demonstrated experience working in an education setting.
- Ability to influence and gain support and assistance of parents, other stakeholders, community agencies, early years' service networks and staff in developing a community hub.
- Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and as part of a team, including well developed planning, time management and organisational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with people and families from diverse backgrounds especially culturally and linguistically diverse families.
- Well-developed oral communication skills as well as sound written and report writing skills
- Experience and knowledge of community development principles and practices
- Knowledge of current theory of parent engagement and social capital building
- Excellent community engagement skills including engaging local organisations, and schools to work collaboratively
- Well-developed knowledge and understanding of the socio and political context of schools in Australian culture.

**Role**:

- The role of the Community Hub Leader is to run the Community Hub located on our school site. The Community Hub is funded by Community Hubs Australia. The Hub Leader runs the hub, organising and promoting programs as well as completing all reporting and paperwork for Community Hubs Australia. The Hub Leader liaises with outside organisations to facilitate programs such as the Shepparton Council playgroup run every Friday and ITAV who offer a second playgroup. The priorities of the Hub are to offer playgroups as well as English Language classes for adults. Improving English for CALD families promotes community engagement and leads to better inclusion and employment opportunities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with staff and community members to ensure a welcoming environment
- Interact positively with all parents, children, colleagues and members of the wider school community
- Be the first point of contact to assist families with enquiries and link parents to information, programs and services where applicable and assist with referrals as required
- Organise activities, program events in response to family needs, interests and program outcomes and support parents to participate
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community members, services, funding agencies and local early years network
- Promote early years' hub and broader community activities
- Plan and set up playgroup 2 days a week for preschool children and their families
- Collaborate with internal staff and external agencies to deliver co
- located and coordinated services
- Develop and implement an annual work plan in line with contractual obligations and program outcomes
- Budget and reporting accountabilities
- Participate in evaluation activities as required
- Assist with documentation for the community Hub. This may include developing agendas and papers, taking minutes during meetings, maintaining schedules of activities, data collection, developing brochures, writing articles for newsletters or report writing using high level of computer skills
- Attend and participate in the hub leader networking and learning and development meetings
- Other tasks as requested from time to time by the Principal.
