**About the Role**
The Associate Director Contract Management will adopt a risk-based, strategic approach to expand and lead the contract and commercial management function of the MR5 tram contract.
It will lead the management of all assurance, performance and reporting obligations for passenger experience and performance, operations, franchise payments and the activation of all reform areas contained in the MR5 tram contract.
It will provide leadership to stand-up and oversee delivery of full financial assurance functions and programmed technical and financial audits for all MR5 contract modules.
The role will be accountable for fostering an organisational culture of high-performance and inclusiveness, and actively role modelling DTP’s values.
**Position Outcomes**
The Associate Director of Contract Management plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the contract assurance, performance, and reporting obligations under the MR5 contract. This includes ensuring that franchise payments and operator contracts are managed effectively through appropriate work processes and procedures.
This role leads strategy development for the contract and commercial functions of the MR5 contract, focusing on risk mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with contract management plans and frameworks. The Associate Director also manages the financial assurance and performance obligations of the contract, which includes handling escrow accounts and developing performance data and metrics for detailed franchise performance reporting.
Additionally, the Associate Director oversees assurance audits, budget and escrow management, and supports financial bids aimed at the sustainability and modernisation of tram assets. The Associate Director will provide high-quality, authoritative strategic, project, and operational advice to the Executive Director Tram and the executive leadership team to support transport portfolio objectives and address emerging or complex issues.
The role also involves contributing to continuous improvement by ensuring that changes to the work program align with governance standards, operator agreements, and documentation requirements. Stakeholder management is a key responsibility, requiring effective collaboration and the ability to negotiate and influence decisions at the executive level.

**Qualifications and role specific requirements**
**Mandatory**
- Experience in the oversight and management of complex commercial contracts (for example 7+ years of contract management experience).
- A strong understanding of the principles of asset management and assurance.
- Experience in working with senior leaders internally and externally.
- Proficient user of the Microsoft suite of products.
**Desirable**
- Tertiary qualification in law, business, economics, contract management or similar.
- An understanding of the public transport environment would be highly advantageous.
