The Associate Data Analyst plays a key role in driving the commercial value of the customer base by enabling data
- and analytics-driven decisions and improving the efficiency and accuracy of business operations. Responsible for executing the Data & Analytics strategy, the role delivers data, insights, reporting, and ongoing operational support to business teams such as finance, sales, marketing, and product. In addition to analysis, the role also carries data governance responsibilities to ensure data integrity and effective use across the organisation.
Your day in the life of an Associate Data Analyst
at Optus
Analyse business performance and lead/lag indicators to generate actionable insights and support decision-making.
Design, develop, and maintain data models and workflows using platforms such as Databricks, SQL Server, and Cloudera for reporting and advanced analytics.
Build and optimise visual analytics dashboards using Tableau and Power BI to meet stakeholder needs.
Collaborate with various business partners, Group IT, and delivery teams to ensure end-to-end delivery, including product-ionisation and operationalisation of data assets.
Implement data governance practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance across managed datasets.
Your skills to pay the bills
Minimum 2 years' experience in data and analytics roles, preferably within the Telco or large B2B sectors, with tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. data science, statistics, IT).
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Alteryx, with strong capability in data engineering, governance, and advanced data analysis.
Skilled in data visualisation tools such as Tableau and Power BI, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
Strong commercial competence and experience in aligning analytics to business strategy, customer performance, and operational effectiveness.
Good communication, presentation, and collaborator leadership skills. Proactive approach.
