Kitchen Hand

A kitchen hand is an essential member of the Silvas restaurant team. They play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, ensuring that dishes, utensils, and equipment are always clean and ready for use. As a valuable Silvas kitchen hand, you will be responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen, as well as assisting with food preparation tasks.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Washing dishes, glasses, and utensils by hand or using our commercial dishwashing machine;
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, including sweeping, and mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and surfaces, and ensuring that the kitchen is always free of debris and clutter;
- Assisting with food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and making sure that ingredients are properly stored;
- Unloading and storing deliveries, including checking for quality, and ensuring that all products are stored properly;
- Following all health and safety regulations, including ensuring that all kitchen equipment is in good working order and that all cleaning products are used properly;
- Communicating effectively with other members of the kitchen staff, including the head chef and other cooks, to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience working in a kitchen environment is preferred but not required
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
- Must be able to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with other members of the kitchen staff
- Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work evenings and weekends
