- About the role
- The mission of The Salvation Army Employment Plus network is to change lives and communities through the power of employment. The ‘EPlus Local’ initiative supports Salvation Army’s Refugee and Asylum Seekers Program by assisting newly arrived migrants to become ‘job ready’ and to gain employment.
To support the work of EPlus Job Mentors, Ukrainian/Russian Interpreters will work closely with Ukrainian refugees to help identify their skills and professional experience, and to equip refugees to find successful employment pathways (as sourced by EPlus Employee Liaison team).
This rewarding role calls on compassionate and patient individuals who are keenly interested in facilitating communications between participants, employers and the Program team. Ideally suited to those looking for practical training in a community development program, exploring a career change or someone who has extensive relevant experience and passion for humanitarian causes and time to give back to the community.
Note: This role will be based in one or more of the following Salvation Army sites: Auburn, Liverpool, Campsie, Fairfield and Parramatta.
_The distribution of sites between successful applicants will be facilitated by the National Social Impact Manager._
Key responsibilities
- In this role you will build skills and experience in recruitment support, participant and stakeholder engagement by:
Interpreting fully and accurately all that is said by Job Mentors and participants during consultation sessionsConvert dialogue and convey the intent of the original speaker, understanding that many idioms and slang terms do not translate exactly between languages-
- Adhere to the boundaries of TSA’s program participant engagement policy-
- Provide disclosure of potentially harmful circumstances the participant may mention-
- Assist the program with written and oral communication as neededQualifications and skills (desired/required)- Experience in community engagement is highly desired but not essential-
- Familiarity with the refugee community is highly desirable (but not essential)-
- Fluent in speaking the Ukrainian and/or Russian languages is essential-
- Fluent in reading the Ukrainian and/or Russian languages is highly desirable-
- Experience in customer service and/or administration is desired, with strong attention to detail- Capabilities and personal attributes- Manage Self: Presents a demeanour that is appropriate to work setting and role; shows personal motivation and commitment to completing work activities effectively.-
