**Support Worker**
- Working across the Greater Sydney area
- Mileage paid for private car use
- Work is needs based and casual
- Long shifts available (12 -24 hour)

**Support Workers **are responsible for supporting young people placed in Child Protection and Out-of-Home-Care providing direct work and support, as and when required.

**About the role**

Intensive Support is a community service providing mentor and out-of-home-care services to young people on child protection court orders who cannot live with their parents or guardians. Intensive Support has provided the Services to the New South Wales Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) since 2003. Intensive Support is an accredited DCJ provider and an NDIS registered provider.

The position involves working with Children and Young People (clients) with mental health and behaviour challenges. The shifts vary dependent upon the needs of the child/young person, the clients ages vary, up to 17 years of age. The clients may have drug and alcohol and/or offending behaviors. Clients may present as oppositional. The worker is to be able to engage with and create connection with the young people in order to support and mentor them in line with supervision and professional direction.

Workers are employed under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award commencing, Level 2 - pay point 2. There are no out of pocket expenses. The work is available across the Sydney metropolitan area - occasionally we work in the Illawarra, Blue Mountains and Central Coast.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide various types of support to Children and Young People placed in Child Protection and Out of Home Care settings
- Collaborative support, advocating for people
- Assist in care/behaviour plans for people
- Completion of required documentation, for operational compliance
- And ensure compliance of company policies and child protection procedures

**Experience and Skills Required**
- Be energetic and enthusiastic,
- Have a passion for working with young people with complex mental health challenges
- A certificate in Human Services and or a similar relevant field (not mandatory)
- First Aid Certificate (mandatory)
- Confidence and ability to deal with difficult situations
- Experience in Children & Youth work (not mandatory)
- Training and/or experience supporting people from trauma backgrounds including child abuse and neglect (not mandatory)
- Current Australian “C” Class driver license, is a must and your own fully insured/registered vehicle
- Applicants must reside in Australia to be eligible for consideration
- National Police Check and NSW Working With Children Certificate (mandatory)
- 100 points identification (mandatory)
- Vaccination for COVID-19 or holding an exemption for COVID-19 (mandatory)
