**THE ROLE**
We are seeking a **Cost Controller** to join the West Region Delivery Team on a long-term frameworks contract in western Sydney. This is a permanent role overseeing the cost controlling functions for concurrent water infrastructure and utilities projects in the western suburbs. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining cost information for over 100 projects.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Budget Creation & Re-budgeting**: Develop and manage initial project budgets, including re-budgeting as necessary to reflect project changes, unforeseen costs, and budget adjustments to ensure financial alignment with project goals.
- **Cost Data Accuracy**: Ensure that project cost data is accurately captured and reflects the current commercial and financial status of the project, including approved changes, remaining contingency, actual costs, and costs to complete.
- **Schedule and Cost Alignment**: Align project activity schedules with Work Package codes and the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS). Develop cost code setup files for the Finance team to set up the Financial Management Information System (FMIS).
- **Cost Reporting & Analysis**: Produce cost reports, collaborate with the lead cost controller, and assist the project team in extracting and analyzing cost information, ensuring alignment of schedule and cost phasing data.
- **Cost Variance Analysis**: Conduct cost variance analysis to identify deviations from budgeted costs and provide recommendations for corrective actions to keep projects on track financially.
- **Cost Control Processes**: Develop and implement cost control processes and procedures to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project costs, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- **Collaboration & Communication**: Work closely with project teams, including project managers, estimators, Schedulers, engineers, and finance teams, to ensure effective communication and collaboration on cost-related matters.
**Continuous Improvement**: Identify opportunities for process improvements in cost control and project management, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
**WHAT YOU WILL NEED**
- Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in the design and construction industry in a comparable role.
- Advanced experience in Cost Planning and Value Engineering, with knowledge of large, complex civil/M&E infrastructure projects such as Water Treatment Plants, Pipelines, and other Linear Infrastructure, Pumping Stations, and industrial structures.
- Based in our new operations centre at Sydney Olympic Park.
