To maintain a safe, clean and hygienic environment for customers and staff at the
centre.

**RELATIONSHIPS

**Key Internal Relationships**:Life Guards ,LTS Instructors, Aqua Aerobics

**Key External Relationships**:Centre Customers and Group Bookings

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Undertake diligent lifeguarding to the standards of guideline for safe pool

operation.
- Undertake the role of warden in a emergency evacuation.
- Undertake water testing and maintain chemical balance within NSW

Guidelines.
- Undertake cleaning and house keeping to ensure hygienic and inviting

conditions.
- Provide direction to lifeguards, including rotation task allocation.
- Untake routine plant room task, including the cleaning of the dosing

system and additional chemicals.
- Identify hazards, assess risk hazards and report any injury or near miss.
- Ensure end-of-day and /or end-of-shift procedures are completed safely,

accurately and efficiently.
- Administer the fees and charges as resolved by the Council, monitor

bands indicating payment, taking payment as required and class roles.
- Maintain work records, including hourly visitation, pool test, corrective

measures, plant room checks and as required financial records
membership records.

Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but
are not limited to: identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and
notifying your Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety
Representative); never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which
you do not have the experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and
training or where the correct equipment to carry out the task safely is not available;
always work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety instructions, where
applicable; use the work equipment supplied for the job, in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions), and any personal protective equipment, which the
Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety aware and report any actions
to your line manager which will assist the Council to meet its legal workplace health
and safety obligations.

You have the right to cease or direct cessation of unsafe work. In addition you are
required at all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.

- Ability to direct, liaise, advise and negotiate.
- An ability to resolve problems that occur in the centre.

**JUDGEMENT & PROBLEM SOLVING
- Resolve staff matters where possible in the first instance.
- Ensure work health and safety matters are dealt with.

**AUTHORITY
- Supervision of the pools and safety of the staff and the general public whilst on

shift.
- Authorised to take whatever action is necessary to ensure the safety and

wellbeing of the general public and staff, including closing of the pools.

**SKILL, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
- Pool operation,Certificate 111 Aquatics or training
- Previous experience in the supervision and operation of public swimming pools
- Pool Lifeguard Award
- First Aid Certificate
- Working with Children Check

**DESIRABLE
- Willingness to undertake training and multi skill and assist in other areas if

required
- Control evacuation to muster point
