Pegasus Care is excited to announce a new Supported Independent Living project in the Newcastle Area and we are looking at recruiting Disability Support staff to work with us who have a range of skills willing to work in a variety of settings to utilise and build on their specific skill base.

Within this role you will be providing supports including within the SIL home, personal care, meal preparation, communication, learning life skills, accessing the community and maintaining family relationships. You will have a positive outlook, a can do attitude and friendly demeanour.

The successful applicant will be supported by a cohesive team of support workers, a key worker and team leader to learn the specific skills to excel in this role.

Ongoing training is provided.

The role requires staff to be available to work a 24/7 roster which will include weekend and public holidays, and, may include night shift/sleepover shifts. **To ensure the smooth running of the Service, staff will need to commit to a minimum of 30hpw**

You will need well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a Team as well as family members, you will need good communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to follow the routines and protocols in the setting in which you work.

**The successful applicant must be able to show experience in some or all of the following:

- **
- Previous sector experience
- Behaviour support/Challenging Behaviours
- Dual Diagnosis and/or Dementia
- Experience in the provision of personal care
- Mobility Assistance/Manual Handling/ Rehabilitation experience
- Provision of Community Access.
- Experience supporting people with non-verbal Autism and/or psycho-social disabilities
- Implementation of Individual Goals, Plans, Routines

- The right to work in Australia
- Certificate III or IV in Disability Work (or similar)
- NDIS Worker Clearance Certificate.
- Completed NDIS Worker Induction Module - Quality, Safety & You
- Infection Control Training - COVID-19 Certificate
- Completed NDIS module “Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals”
- Current NSW Working With Children Check
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
- NSW Drivers Licence, a Reliable vehicle with Comprehensive Insurance
- Provide evidence of vehicle registration
- Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: $40.26 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Shift work
