**The Opportunity**:
We’re seeking an experienced Lead Forestry Officer to oversee the delivery of approved Harvest Plans and drive safe, compliant, and efficient harvesting operations. In this pivotal role, you’ll supervise a team of Forest Officers, work closely with contractors, and contribute to the sustainable management of the forest estate

**About the role**:
As Lead Forestry Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating the full cycle of harvest operations, from pre-harvest forest mark-up and surveys through to contractor engagement and performance monitoring. You’ll provide leadership and support to your team, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational standards are met while also contributing to broader activities such as silviculture, pest and weed management, and fire planning and suppression. Your technical expertise in harvesting, value recovery, and heavy plant operations, combined with strong stakeholder management skills, will ensure the effective delivery of outcomes that balance commercial value with sustainable forest management.
**We would love you to have/be**:

- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Solid experience in harvesting operations, including mark-up and value recovery
- Knowledge of forestry management and protection (silviculture, pest/weed, fire)
- Experience in CIOFA (Contractor Integrated Operations & Financial Application) or similar systems
- Strong contractor management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Forestry, Ecology, or a related field (highly regarded)
- A current driver’s licence and the capacity for fieldwork, firefighting duties, and travel
