The Kitchen Hand supports kitchen operations by performing a variety of tasks to ensure that the kitchen runs smoothly. The role includes assisting with food preparation, cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and supporting chefs and kitchen staff as needed.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Food Preparation Assistance**:

- Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits.
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including measuring and mixing basic components.
- Assist chefs with basic food prep tasks like assembling salads or garnishing dishes.
- **Cleaning & Sanitizing**:

- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, tools, and utensils after each use.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas.
- Clean dishwashing areas and empty bins as required.
- Regularly disinfect high-touch areas to ensure hygiene standards are met.
- **Dishwashing**:

- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and cooking equipment.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of clean dishes.
- Maintain dishwashing areas to a high standard of cleanliness.
- **Organizing and Storing Supplies**:

- Help store food items in the correct storage areas (fridges, freezers, and pantries).
- Ensure food storage complies with health and safety regulations.
- Rotate stock and monitor expiry dates to prevent spoilage.
- **Assist with Stock Management**:

- Help with inventory control by monitoring stock levels and notifying senior kitchen staff of shortages.
- Receive and check deliveries for accuracy and quality.
- **General Kitchen Support**:

- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks during meal preparation and service.
- Help set up and break down kitchen stations before and after service.
- Handle deliveries and assist with setting up kitchen workstations.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- **Experience**: Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.
- **Physical Stamina**: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- **Attention to Detail**: Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
- **Teamwork**: Ability to work collaboratively in a team and follow directions.
- **Communication**: Basic communication skills to liaise with kitchen staff and follow instructions.
- **Food Safety Knowledge**: Basic understanding of hygiene, food handling, and safety standards.

**Working Conditions**:

- Shifts may vary depending on the restaurant’s opening hours and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- The role involves working in a hot, fast-paced environment with exposure to kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as gloves and aprons may be required.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift

- Australia (required)
