Our mission is to set new standards in accounting and financial management for a global market. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our international team. In this role, you’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team, overseeing all aspects of financial management to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with business goals.
**Your Role at Cypher**
As a Controller, you will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and executing financial management processes across a variety of clients, particularly within the startup sector. This role will encompass:
- **Financial Oversight**: Manage all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- **Client Management**: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, providing financial insights and recommendations to drive their strategic goals. This will include supporting clients in due diligence for audits, fundraising, and M&A activities.
- **Compliance & Risk Management**: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and tax obligations while assessing and mitigating financial risks for both Cypher and our clients.
- **Strategic Planning**: Work alongside leadership to develop financial strategies that align with business growth and profitability goals.
- **Process Improvement**: Identify and implement improvements to streamline financial processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen internal controls.
- **Vendor Management**: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers.
- **Team Leadership**: Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative culture of continuous learning and development.
- **Reporting & Audit Preparation**: Prepare accurate, timely financial reports and manage external audits to ensure smooth execution.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, ideally in a multi-client environment or an accounting firm.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite, and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Experience with process improvement and internal controls.
- Experience accounting in a multi-client environment.
- Strong knowledge of finance, reporting, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles.
- Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, U.S. GAAP, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Meticulous attention to detail - able to follow through/execute on a high volume of nuanced tasks
- Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced setting with a wide variety of tasks

**Job Type**: Contract
Pay: $70.00 - $90.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 20 per week
