Summary
**The Lead Steward** is primarily responsible for helping during banquets to plate food and assist Banquet Servers in preparation of serving the guests, as well as deliver the food. They must be able to read Banquet Event Orders and have clear communication with colleagues. Assist Banquet Team to get stewarding equipment for setting up for their functions. Maintain the cleanliness of all hotel china, silverware, and cookware.
**General Responsibilities**:
- To ensure a clean and sanitary work environment in the kitchen and stewarding areas at all times.
- Scraping food from dirty dishes, pots, pans, plates, glasses, flatware, service ware and miscellaneous items and washing them by hand and/or the dishwashing machine.
- Clean and stock operating equipment and kitchen utensils.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including the dish washing machine, hand wash stations pot-scrubbing station, and trash compactor.
- Wash and disinfect kitchen and storeroom areas, tables, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure clean wares are stored in appropriate areas.
- Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items, send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing.
- Empty and maintain trashcans empty and dumpster area. Break down cardboard boxes and place them and other recyclables in the recycle bin.
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
**Qualifications**:
- Basic knowledge of Kitchen Hygiene.
- 1-2 years’ work experience as Steward in a hotel or restaurant with good standards.
- Requires exemplary organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Attention to detail is necessary to clean and maintain equipment and work areas according to inhouse, local, state and federal regulations for safety and sanitation.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Stand and walk for an extended period of time.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling.
- Must have mechanical skills to operate electric machines such as dishwashers, sanitizers, trash compactors
