Kingston Arts accommodates commercial and community events ranging from meetings for 20 to complex multi-space functions and events for up to 1000 across three of Melbourne's favourite venues, Kingston City Hall, Kingston Arts Centre and Shirley Burke Theatre.
The role
We are seeking experienced and energetic Event Supervisors (Duty Officers) to join our dynamic Arts and Cultural Services team.
The incumbent will work across Kingston Arts Centre and Kingston City Hall in Moorabbin and Shirley Burke Theatre in Parkdale.
Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, this role requires people with excellent presentation and customer service skills to undertake venue supervision, hirer liaison, staff supervision, risk management, front of house and ushering, event and meeting set ups/pack ups, post-event and venue cleaning, food and bar service and shift reports.
Shifts range from overseeing a single room meeting for 20 to facilitating full-service dinners for 800 and live music concerts up to 1000.
Set up and effective delivery of event requirements
Hirer liaison/induction/risk assessment
Ensure hirers follow OH&S rules
Attend to hirer and patron needs
Ensure Responsible Serving of Alcohol practices are maintained when the bar is in operation
Supervise Service Officers and security guards
Undertake staff briefings
Take the lead role in an emergency situation
About you
As the main interface with hirers and users of our venues, you have:
excellent presentation and customer service skills
confidence working with hirers, large groups, performers and patrons at events across our facilities
excellent attention to detail
ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
confidence in numeracy skills relative to cash handling
a positive, can-do attitude with a genuine love for arts and events
**To be successful you will have**:
Front of house experience in events, hospitality and/or an arts-based environment
Current Responsible Serving of Alcohol and Safe Food Handling certificates
Demonstrated customer service experience
Experience supervising staff, highly valued
Experience in cash handling and reconciliation of cash registers and floats, ie - bar management, box office, highly valued
