When you join Water Corporation, you play an important role for the people of WA. Our services are essential for life - everyday, millions of Western Australians rely on us to deliver and manage water across our state.
If you’re driven to make a meaningful contribution, you’ve come to the right place.
**About the role.**
Water Corporation is committed to effective management of its drinking water supplies to provide a safe, high-quality product that consistently meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, customer and regulatory requirements, and the corporate objectives and vision. Source Protection is recognised as a key component of this process.
A secure drinking water catchment is the first part of the multiple barrier approach to providing safe drinking water and protecting the public health of our community.
The size and diverse climate of WA means that the Water Corporation is responsible for the management of around 120 surface and groundwater drinking water sources across the state, from the tops of the Kimberley Region to the southern end of Albany, and far and wide in between.
We have a fixed-term (2-year) role for a **Principal - Source Protection** within our Source Protection team based in Leederville.
In this role, you will lead engagement with stakeholders on the development and implementation of strategies that aim to manage risks and protect water quality for the Water Corporation’s drinking water catchments, with a key focus on the risks associated with existing and emerging mining activities.
This role would suit someone who has significant water industry experience and can lead and actively maintain relationships with key government stakeholders on water quality issues, in order to drive industry and government alignment and the right outcomes for the business.
Reporting to the Team Leader Source Protection, this role joins a high-performing team who advocate for the protection of our catchments and the public health of the Western Australian community.
As this role will require travel to our sites and regions, you will require a valid WA Driver’s license.
**What the role will involve**:
Provide strategic direction and guidance on existing and emerging source protection issues with the potential to impact water quality, with a key focus on mining impacts to drinking water sources.
Lead the development of a catchment mining risk mitigation strategy.
Develop and manage relationships with key internal stakeholders (Operations, Asset Planning) and external stakeholders (DWER, DoH, DJTSI, DEMIRS, DBCA)
Provide direction to staff to facilitate best practice and compliance with source protection/water quality processes.
Oversee and represent at internal and external working groups on mining in drinking water catchments, including interagency committees.
Coordinate and develop business communications that communicate the Corporation’s water quality objectives, including briefing notes and Ministerial responses.

- Two well-being days each year to do whatever you need to do to feel good.
