Horse Trainer/breeding

Yulong is seeking a highly motivated and adaptive individual to join our growing team as a full-time Horse Trainer/Breeding-Stallions.

Yulong is comprised of three farms all of which are an easy drive to Melbourne. The breeding side of the operation, Yulong Stud and Yulong Farm, are located in the beautiful wine region of Nagambie. Whilst the spelling farm, Yulong Park, located in Bayles, is a short drive to the Mornington Peninsula.

Yulong is a rapidly expanding operation which currently has 700 broodmares, over 350 foals to yearlings, 9 stallions and over 200 horses in training.

**Horse Trainer/Breeding - Stallions**

Duties will include:

- Educating stallions in breeding shed routine
- Monitoring and maintaining the health and condition of the stallions
- Re-educate stallions to resolve bad habits such as biting and kicking or inappropriate behaviour with mares
- Assisting with all daily duties required in the stallion barn including exercising and lunging.
- Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses

**Horse Trainer/Breeding**

Duties will include:

- Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
- Early education of young stock
- Foaling, including pre
- and post-natal care of broodmares and foals
- Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
- Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy
- Preparing Yearlings for sale

The salary will be above award - in the range of **$70,000 to $80,000** per annum depending upon the skill set and level of responsibility.

**Essential Skills**:
All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time professional experience in the role or a relevant qualification and at least 2 years full time professional experience in the role.

In addition, the following will be required:

- Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred breeding
- Proven ability to train and educate young horses
- Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills
- Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
