Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology is an academically selective entry, co-educational state school for highly-capable students in Years 7 to 12. QASMT currently offers the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) as its core curriculum in Years 11 & 12. The IB DP is a demanding pre-university course of study assessed by external examinations. About the Role
The suitable applicant will be a high calibre, outstanding senior educational leader with a contemporary leadership style focussed on collegial engagement, collaboration and innovation in order to foster and drive continuous improvement throughout the Academy. We are seeking a dedicated leader for our Engagement portfolio. This role includes leading pedagogy, gifted and talented differentiation, student recruitment and outreach programs, Positive Education, parent and community engagement and event management across our school community. In addition, the role requires a passionate, high-energy leader who is able to work in a fast-paced, high expectations environment, with a proven record of accomplishment of working with high achieving students.
As Deputy Principal, you will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
- Manage resources to achieve goals.
