Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator or Assistant

We are seeking **either** a qualified and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator or an Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator with a passion for public health and protecting the environment. We welcome dedicated people that want to learn and work in a supportive team environment.

The Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will undertake a planned and supported pathway to obtain qualifications (qualification will be dependant on the duration of the contract) and competence in this stimulating and rewarding role and involves the completion of on-the-job training and tertiary studies (a Certificate III in Water Operations). Course fees will be funded by Council.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator position will work within a committed team to maintain, operate, undertake routine testing and carry out minor repairs of Wastewater Treatment Plants to ensure wastewater treatment meets health and environmental requirements as well as community expectations utilising adopted operating procedures.

The position is suitable to those who enjoy a diversity of work in both outdoor and office environments combining computer based and active work activities.

**What's on offer**:

- **WWTPO**: Salary ranging from $1,116.39 up to $1,279.09 per week, plus 11% super
- **Assistant WWTPO**:Salary ranging from $1,060.98 up to $1,211.84 per week **with annual **salary progressions based on satisfactory completion of studies, with progress to professional salary range on course completion, plus 11% super
- 38 hour week, 9 day fortnight
- 12 - 18 month contract, with the possibility of extension or permanency based on budget, operational requirements and performance

**Essential**:

- Competence and experience in the in the operation of modern activated sludge Wastewater Treatment Plants including chemical dosing
- How you control plant changes or difficulties using examples from a Treatment Plant you have worked at
- Details of your knowledge of the mechanical operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant
- Your approaches to ensuring effective communications with a diverse range of people. Use examples that demonstrate your competencies in both oral and written communication
- Knowledge and experience in the use of SCADA systems
- Experience with using computers as part of your current or previous similar roles, particularly the use of Mi
