One of our key services to the community is in providing a safe and dignified place for community members to come to if they are finding they are unable to meet their food needs. This also provides an opportunity for connection and hope as community members open up and share their story and begin to explore ways to address their food insecurity.

All this wouldn’t be possible without a team of volunteers, specifically volunteering in the role of Food Collection Driver who provides support in collecting and/or unloading trucks, checking and placing food stock on shelves, making food packs ready and providing friendly and professional attention to community members.

o Role tasks/requirements:
Driving: Bringing a high level of driving capability, friendly professionalism and reliability to collecting donated food.

Vehicle care: Drivers are key in ensuring the vehicle is safe and fully operational by regularly checking tyres, fuel levels, cleaning inside vehicle, and monitoring oil and water levels. Diligently ensure vehicle is checked before each shift and rectify any issues before collecting donations, reporting issues and repairs to the Corps Officer.

Administration: Limited to filling in the vehicle log book and ensuring an identification badge is worn at all times, as well communications with Manager regarding any concerns that may arise.

Stock handling: Unload donated food, unpack and stock shelves and fridge/freezer. Assemble food packs as required.
- Time commitment - Every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:15am - 12pm
- Mandatory qualifications if required

Must complete the IM ALERT Food Safety Training Online before start date.- The Salvation Army is a child safe organisation and is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. All child related roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check. _Additionally, certain volunteer roles may require a National Police Check._
