**The opportunity**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable HSE professional to take on the permanent, full-time position of HSE Advisor. Reporting to the Head of HSE, the key purpose of this role is to support the Operations Team by leading and monitoring HSE programs of work across Queensland. **Responsibilities include**:

- Collaborate with the operational leaders to embed a safe and positive work culture in the business, leading safety as a role model demonstrating good safety practice through your actions and decision-making.
- Lead and coach managers in the implementation and verification of safety management plans, safe work procedures and work practices and provide advice on areas for improvement.
- Lead and coach operational leaders and workers to develop their skills and ability to effectively manage risk in accordance with established risk profiles and work methods, driving them to take accountability for finding better and more effective safety solutions and outcomes.
- Participate in the identification, assessment and controls of health, safety & environment (HSE) risk and ensure identified HSE risks are elevated to the appropriate level of management for action.
- Preparation, implementation and monitoring of HSE compliance in accordance with regulatory and Client requirements.
- Participate in the local delivery of the HSE strategy and tactical plans through implementation programs.
- Compile HSE Reports as required.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure contractor management processes outlined in HSE management plans are adhered to.
- Manage and facilitate the incident management process by leading and educating Operations Managers and Supervisors on the timely reporting of incidents and completion of incident investigations which identifies the factors and causes of incidents and actions that drive change.
- Development and implementation of WHS communications including Toolbox talks and alerts.
- Take reasonable care to prevent injuries to self and others.
- Uphold the BSA values and behaviors and comply with the BSA code of conduct, company policies, process standards and practice standards
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a high volume, multi-client/project environment, with a qualification in safety or risk (tertiary preferred), certificate IV training and assessment (desirable), ICAM or equivalent incident investigation certification, lead auditor qualifications.
- Commercial or civil construction, building management services, telecommunications and/or utility operations and maintenance experience (desirable).
- Practical field HSE experience within high-risk industries or environments (working at heights, electrical safety, mobile plant operations, etc.).
- Strong investigation and field auditing skills focussing specifically on management of critical risk controls/protocols.
- Strong report writing and verbal communication skills including the ability to speak in large groups or one on one.
- Experience in HSE controls required for effective contractor management.
- Excellent working knowledge of HSE and experience of working in medium to large business.
