We seek an interventional endoscopy fellow to join a thriving academic gastroenterology service at Monash Health in Melbourne’s South East.

**About Monash Gastroenterology**

Monash Gastroenterology is Victoria’s largest gastroenterology unit. We care for 3000 inpatients per year, provide 12,000 endoscopic procedures and see 20,000 outpatients per annum across a range of speciality clinics including IBD, general gastroenterology, hepatobiliary, endoscopy, liver, decompensated liver, NASH, liver cancer.

We provide services at Clayton, Dandenong and Casey, with two ward teams (Clayton and Dandenong), three endoscopy units (Clayton, Dandenong and Casey), five outpatient sites, and a 24 hour registrar led, but consultant driven GI bleeding service for Clayton and Dandenong. In addition we offer intestinal ultrasound, fibroscan, and infusion services. The team currently comprises 38 gastroenterologists, 7 accredited registrars and 6 junior medical staff, and a large clinical trials unit providing ethics, GCP, and research nurse support for commercial drug trials and both clinical and laboratory investigator initiated research.

We are a tertiary centre for patients with hepatobiliary disease and pancreatic malignancy and offer the full range of endoscopic, surgical, loco‐regional and oncological treatments for these patients. We have Victoria’s largest experience with medical and surgical management of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. The endoscopic strengths of the unit include diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, ERCP, upper GI stenting and the management of colonic mucosal resection

**About the Role**

The unit has a strong interest in research with 7 interventional endoscopists (including 2 with higher degrees), an endoscopy PhD fellow (pancreas/EUS) and a clinical trial group providing ethics, GCP, and research coordination support. Endoscopic research interest areas include diagnosis and management of pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis, and use of novel endoscopic interventions.

The successful applicant will coordinate the unit interventional endoscopy (an ERCP, EUS) audit and will be expected to publish a minimum of one peer reviewed article during the year from research conducted at Monash Health. The post includes a paid contribution to the out‐of‐hours bleeding rota. Participation in the inpatient consultative service where required, and involvement in unit educational activities, is expected.

This 1 year fixed term position will involve:

- Consult services to inpatients requiring interventional endoscopy.
- Attendance at 1 outpatient clinics/week.
- 1 gastroscopy/colonoscopy lists
- Attendance at unit radiology/pathology meeting weekly
- Coordination of the ERCP and EUS audit
- Endoscopy teaching sessions for registrars and nursing staff.
- A minimum of one clinical research project

Required qualifications include: MBBS (or equivalent) FRACP, CCCTRGE accreditation, good communication skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. Prior research experience helpful.
