Tailor Dressmaker

Established in 2011, Sonia Fashion specializes in dress making and alteration. From the moment you step into our shop, you would receive personalized attention from our fitting stylist, plus honest advice on how to make a garment look like it was made just for you. Sonia Fashion is proud to have been filling some of the famous brands with our alteration service for years now. The brands we work with are Cue, Veronika Maine, Camilla, Country Road and Rebecca Vallance.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Tailor to join our team.

About the role:

- Discussing design, alteration, or repair requirements with customers to ensure that their specifications are met.
- Taking customers’ measurements using a tape measure.
- Accurately recording customers' measurements, instructions, and preferences.
- Attaching labels to customers' garments to prevent any errors.
- Modifying garments according to customer instructions, which includes tapering pant legs, lining sheer garments, removing pockets, and adding padding.
- Altering garments to improve comfort and fit, which includes shortening sleeves or straps, narrowing lapels, as well as taking in or letting out seams.
- Repairing customers' garments, which includes patching or sewing tears and holes.
- Constructing garments for customers based on their design ideas, specifications, and preferences.
- Providing customers with cost estimates for the construction of customized garments.

Skills and experience required:

- You must have at least three (3) years of work experience as a Tailor or Dressmaker
- Fundamental understanding on the use of calibrated tools to perform the work
- A high degree of flexibility and willingness to learn or grow
- Effective and excellent English communication skills
- High attention to detail

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $74,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Work Location: In person
