Apprentice Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician

**Position Overview**:
Apprentice Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician is responsible for conducting repairs, maintenance & pressure testing to customer and rental pressure control equipment. Plus receiving of goods, stocking of store, sending equipment to 3 rd party, driving forklift, general upkeep of NOV yard and facility keeping the workshop and associated equipment in a safe, clean and tidy condition.
**Authority**:
- To request parts from the Stores for the Assembly, Service, Repair and Rental Areas.
**Job Duties**:The job duties of a Apprentice Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician vary. They may include;
- To ensure that products are assembled in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Organize subcontractors to complete various inspections (as required)
- To perform servicing, certification or re-recertification of equipment **under supervision **.
- To list out parts required for the job and to request parts from Stores or retrieve in a pro-active manner.
- To be familiar with the standard products of the Company and be fully conversant with the assembly drawings and bills of material - using only approved versions.
- Be proficient in the use of all components, equipment, tools and techniques used in the workshop.
- To correctly complete all service related paperwork, including service reports, work orders & assembly data sheets.
- Work in an orderly and tidy manner, keeping the service areas clean and tidy at all times.
- Maintain good upkeep of the Company’s equipment, reporting any losses or breakages to person-in-charge/senior/manager and keeping it locked when not in use.
- To be available for field service trips & commissioning of equipment, including local, offshore and overseas locations, **when required plus fully competent.**
- To engage in any other activities requested by the person-in-charge/senior.
**Quality Assurance**:
- To produce goods to a high standard of quality and in accordance with the relevant quality assurance procedures/departmental works instructions.
- To ensure that the goods being produced are right first time and fit for the purpose intended prior to passing to the QC inspectors / senior fitters.
- To recommend new ideas for improving the quality of products and services.
- Actively complete continuous improvement cards
**Training**:
- To actively participate in training procedures to achieve the highest quality the employee is capable of.
- To attend TAFE and achieve suitable results required by your apprenticeship.
**HS&E**:
- Take reasonable care of their safety.
- Consider the safety of others who may be affected by your acts or emissions.
- Work in accordance with information, training & instruction provided.
- Refrain from intentionally misusing or recklessly interfering with anything that has been provided for health, safety and environmental reasons.
- Report any hazardous defects in plant and equipment, or shortcomings in the existing safety controls, to a Supervisor without delay.
- Not undertake any task for which authorization and/or training has not been given.
- Report all accidents, incidents and hazardous situations to a Supervisor.
- Stop work immediately if you have any safety concerns over the task and discuss with a Supervisor.
- Actively complete continuous improvement cards

**Qualifications:
- Forklift License
- Hold a current national “C” class driver’s license
- Completed Year 10 Passed in Math’s, English, Science.
- Training required & close supervision required till skills are proved.
- Yes, has Western Australian driver’s license.
**Or have the below experience:
**Experience:
- Experience working with mechanical parts.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn and develop;
- Hold a current national “C” class driver’s license;
- Overhead gantry crane operation/experience. **(preferred)
- Completed certificate 2 in mechanical engineering (TAFE)
- Willing to learn.
- Yes, has license
- Capable person, Team player.
**Ability:
- Can perform assigned tasks with mínimal supervision;
- Complete all documentation correctly.
- Follow’s all relevant procedures.
- Ability to write simple correspondence;
- Ability to present information verbally in one-on-one situation and small groups;
- Basic numeracy skills, having the ability to use these skills with weight, volume and distance measurements;
- Basic Computer skills
- Developing knowledge of workshop procedures;
- Developing knowledge of the use and maintenance of workshop equipment
