Reporting to the Group Manager - HSEC, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Organisation’s health and safety compliance with government regulations and industry standards through risk assessments, incident investigations, workplace health and safety plans, systems and policies, and processes. Under the Group Manager - HSEC’s guidance, the Safety Coordinator will coordinate, plan and drive safety awareness across the organisation, fostering a safety excellence culture in line with the organisation’s needs. The Safety Coordinator will measure and report on safety and compliance performance company wide, developing safety plans and initiatives, identifying improvement opportunities and managing key safety risks.
Our Safety Coordinator will ideally have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
- Hazard and incident investigation and reporting including coordinating end-to-end internal incident investigation processes.
- Accurate and detailed record keeping and reporting.
- Safety Management Systems and process, maintenance analysis and continuous improvement.
- Document design, review, maintainance and reporting to comply with regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Driving a Safety-First Culture and leading various safety programs and initiatives to promote safety awareness and education within the organisation.
- Employee and contractor inductions and compliance.
- Auditing of safety performance and compliance.
- Developing and establishing appropriate relationships with relevant external and internal stakeholders including management, regulatory bodies and community and Industry representatives.
This is a full operational safety role which will provide guidance and support to our Team on best business practices, reiterating that safety is paramount for all Sunshine Coast Airport stakeholders.
Our Safety Coordinator will ideally have the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:
- Qualifications in Work Health and Safety
- ICAM Lead Investigator (desirable)
- First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Direct aviation operations experience (desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in leading safety in a highly regulated environment.
- Knowledge of relevant WHS legislation and regulations pertaining to the areas of activity.
- Working knowledge of Australian aviation regulations, and airport and airline operational policies and procedures (desirable).
- Superior observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
