The opportunity
This Solicitor Level 3 role is responsible for providing legal advisory services and advocacy to support the Commissioner of State Revenue in matters arising from Acts administered by the State Revenue Office, including stamp duty and land tax.
You will have the opportunity to undertake meaningful legal work under the mentorship and guidance of experienced solicitors in a team environment, such as conducting litigation on behalf of the Commissioner of State Revenue, including case preparation, briefing counsel and instructing at hearing.
**Reporting to a Principal Solicitor, you will be able to**:
- manage your own litigation and advice case-load, with supportive legal supervision
- prepare and conduct moderately complex cases for litigation at the Victorian and Civil Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and the Courts (predominantly the Supreme Court)
Who we are looking for
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- been admitted as an Australian Lawyer
- a minimum of 2 years' post-admission experience as an Australian lawyer in the public or private sector, preferably with litigation experience in the tribunal and courts
- sound decision making and problem-solving skills
- strong computer skills and demonstrated ability to work productively in a hybrid legal environment
