Reporting to the Manager Corporate Governance this role will be responsible for the leadership, coordination and oversight of effective risk management, internal audit and insurance functions that supports appropriate insurance coverage and decision making in alignment with Council’s strategic objectives. You will also have a direct report that you will be responsible for developing in order to support the delivery of outcomes for our community.
Driving the integration of risk management into our decision-making processes, you will take a lead role in reviewing, evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management policies, systems, and practices established and maintained for identification, assessment, monitoring, management and review of risks on a regular basis.
You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to manage and oversee the planning, scoping and delivery of the internal audit plan and associated projects, in order to deliver timely and high-quality outcomes within budgetary constraints. This role will also be responsible for ensuring timely and responsive implementation of actions arising from these audits.
You will be a dependable advisor that liaises with and influences a range of internal and external stakeholders, whilst also coaching and mentoring staff and corporate leaders to build risk capacity and capability to enable a continuous improvement culture.
Please note, some out of hours work will be required to attend council meetings and committee meetings as part of your role. It is also essential that the successful applicant has a current DHS General Employment Probity check or the willingness to obtain one.
