Metal Fabricator

Dans Plants Nursery is a well-established and thriving nursery located in Heatherton, VIC. We take pride in offering a wide variety of plants and decorative pots to our customers. We are currrently looking for a Metal Fabricator, to assist in the maintenance and construction department of the nursery.

**MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Reviewing drawings or specifications to understand project requirements - i.e. greenhouse structures, safety rails, trolley assembly, racking structures
- Selecting and preparing the correct metals and materials for the project based on requirements
- Repairing damaged or old greenhouse structures by cutting out and replacing worn sections
- Accurately measuring and marking metal sections prior to cutting & shaping
- Inspecting completed welding projects to ensure they meet quality standards (including strength, appearance and accuracy)
- Rolling, bending or pressing metal pieces into shapes using hand tools or machinery
- Joining or assembling pre-cut metal components to create sub-assemblies or finished products
- Cleaning, smoothing and removing excess material using filing, chiselling, or grinding techniques.
- Assisting the Maintenance Manager with other various tasks around the nursery

**QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE**
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
- Experience in welding using MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG, arc welding or gas welding to join metals.
- Strong knowledge of hand and power tools required for cutting metal into shapes and sizes
- Knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety procedures to ensure all work is undertaken in a safe manner

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
